Jessica King-Rodriquez

I’m Jessica King-Rodriguez, a visual artist based in Atlanta, Ga. 

 

My artwork is my one and only true voice, reflecting my views on social, political, and cultural issues. I combine said views with my childhood and adult experiences varying in forms from fantasy art to portraiture. Having engaged in subjects from the civil rights movements  to internal struggles, my work arranges familiar visual signs into abstract layered pieces.

 

My main source of influence stems from everything I see, feel, and experience. My mother, who is an artist, is an advocate for letting my voice be heard encouraging me to use any outlet I can to express myself and views. By doing so I do not limit myself to one style, or concept as I am constantly evolving.

 

As I evolve so does my art. I am a jeweler, painter and sculptor. Art itself does not conform to one category, why should I? I believe artists should not place themselves in to boxes or labels. Artists are the voices that have the most volume.
